History & Mission
Since 1971, the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba has inspired and rallied donors like you to improve and help save young lives.
The mission of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba is to raise and distribute funds for the advancement of knowledge and care in the fields of child health and child health research, thereby contributing to the improved health of children everywhere.
With the support of individual donors and corporate partners, the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba ensures that there is a reliable, consistent, and significant flow of funds available to augment government funding of Children’s Hospital – HSC Winnipeg. Your philanthropy keeps the system robust and successful by increasing the hospital’s capacity to run important and innovative programs and acquire state-of-the-art equipment.
In 2001, the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba established the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba to bring together researchers committed to unlocking the mysteries of childhood disease. The Institute is a centre of excellence in pediatric research and has attracted leading investigators from around the world to advance their work in Winnipeg. The Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba is located in the John Buhler Research Centre at 715 McDermot Ave., part of the Health Sciences Centre site and the University of Manitoba Bannatyne Campus.
The research you fund in Winnipeg advances treatment and takes us ever closer to answers to important questions about childhood diseases, genetics, and other factors that have an impact on pediatric health and well-being.
The Children’s Hospital cares for more than 120,000 patients every year and offers important support to their families.
